Every year the Friends of the Soldiers’ Home (FOSH) partners with the Armed Forces Retirement Home (aka the Old Soldiers’ Home) to hold a free community celebration for July 4th. The event is held on the giant lawn off of 340 Rock Creek Church Road NW, from 4pm-10:30pm.

FOSH is looking for volunteers to help them make sure the event is amazing for neighbors and residents of the Home.

They are looking for volunteers to help us with a variety of tasks during the July 4th Celebration. Some of these roles include managing parking, running the beverage stand, supporting the FOSH table, monitoring the children activity zone and more.

Bike Parade!

Petworth Peanuts is teaming up with the Friends of the Soldiers Home to host a fun kids’ bike parade during the 4th of July celebration. The best decorated bikes/scooters/wagons/strollers WIN PRIZES and every participants will be given free patriotic swag. RSVP to helps them determine how many giveaways to purchase. Parade begins at the porta-potties at 6PM.
