Shooting reported 8th & Shepherd closed with arrest

On Friday, July 27th, there was a shooting on the 3800 block of 8th Street (originally reported as occurring at 8th and Taylor Streets).

According to MPD, the shooting victim and a female witness were standing in front of a house on the 3800 block of 8th St NW waiting on a third person to come out and join them. While waiting, two Hispanic men walked up and started talking with the woman, and the conversation turned negative with disrespectful words to the woman. Reportedly, the witness knew the shooter.

The suspects then asked the male victim if he was in a gang then threatened to physically assault him. The victim took out his phone to call the third person they had been waiting for.

One of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the ankle. The two suspect got in a vehicle (white, 2-door car) and fled the area (toward Taylor Street).

The witness was able to give a name and description of the suspect (shooter), who was located Sixth Police District and was arrested and charged.
