What is your ANC and SMD?
4E01. New Commission ANC 4E and SMD 4E01 Our SMD will cover the tip of 16th Street Heights neighborhood from 5800th -5500th block of Georgia Ave NW, 1200 and 1300th blocks of Kennedy St, 5700th -5500th blocks of 14th, 5800th -5500th blocks of Colorado and over to 1300th block of Nicholson St NW and its surrounding blocks.

Introduction
I am a native Washingtonian, born and raised within SMD 4E01. My parents are from El Salvador, I speak fluent in both Spanish and English language. I am a mother of four, and a strong advocate for education and safety of our children. I am a procurement manager for a local DC contractor. I am a PTA parent volunteer and a current Girls Scout Troop Co-Leader.
What's a hobby or something fun that you are interested in?
I love spending time with my children, we love to spend time at the beach, parks and go to the movies. I like helping others, my main hobby is crafting I love getting creative with my circuit, I make T-shirts, tumblers anything that is cool for my kids and friends. My downtime I like to read and watch novelas (Spanish soap operas) and definitely eat my mother’s homemade pupusas.
What are your qualifications?
As a longtime community resident, parent, and community partner I believe we can continue to work together as a community to better our neighborhood by working hand in hand with city officials, city agencies, developers, landlords, homeowners and residents on making our community a safe and clean environment for our children, seniors, residents and visitors. There is much to do within our SMD and by serving another term as your ANC I can continue to deliver on our community goals.
What are the ANC meetings?
As a new ANC Commission we will have further details on meeting after the election.
Are you going to hold SMD meetings?
SMD meetings will be held quarterly on the first Wednesday. Meetings will be in person at local establishments within SMD. More details to come after election.
Do you attend other meetings?
Yes, as we are currently part of ANC 4C that meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7pm. Interested in joining, please email 4C@anc.dc.gov for information.
I attend our MPD PSA 403 meetings held the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm. Interested in joining, please email Robert.Hamrick@dc.gov for details.
I also attend the Ward 4 Education Alliance meetings on the 2nd Thursday of the month. If interested in joining, please email ward4edalliance@gmail.com
I also co-host the Latino Community MPD Ward 4 Sector monthly meetings on the 3rd Tuesday at 6pm. Meetings are in Spanish. Interested in joining please email vrcommunityoutreach@gmail.com

Vanessa’s Priorities
If re-elected to serve as your ANC Commissioner I will continue to promote community engagement on matters that directly affect us as a community such as new developments, utility road upgrades, affordable housing, commercial corridor improvements, historic preservations, preservation of residential parking, pedestrian safety, traffic calming, safer streets and continuous support to our existing and new businesses.
