Annual book sale at the Petworth Library Saturday
/By Carol Herwig
The Friends at the Petworth Library are hosting their annual spring book sale on Saturday May 18, from 10 am to 4 pm at 4200 Kansas Avenue NW.
So after making your morning run to the Petworth Community Market for fresh veggies, hand made cheeses and organic meats and other goodies, cross the street for brain food.
We have lots of great books, including a copy of Michelle Obama’s “Becoming” and Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s “In Her Own Words” and an illustrated Hobbit — a bidding war anyone.
There are books of the Supremes (Court) and plenty of great summer reads.
And remember, children’s books are still 50 cents.
The set-up is a little because we are sharing the space with tango dancer.
But here’s how it will work: Children’s books will be set up in the small conference room, with special drawing activities planned. Adult books ($3 each or 4 for $10) will be in the main meeting room from 10 to about 1:45pm, when we will move onto the library patio, entrance on Upshur St. and yes we do take credit cards.
While you are there, we encourage you to sign up yourself and your children and family for the Summer Reading Challenge. There are rewards for students and adults.
And after you finish shopping, there will still be time to enjoy the Spring Festival at the Armed Forces Retirement Home.
Make a day of it in Petworth!
