Here's the band line-up for Battle of the Bands at Capitol Cider House

DC is filled with great local musicians, and a ton of them live in Petworth — and they’re about to do battle! Come out to Capitol Cider House to vote for one of the two bands that will perform each night of the 4 shows in October and November, with the finale in December with the $1,000 prize!

Here’s the line-up of musicians for the four upcoming shows:

October 18th, Thursday 8-10pm

Dan Rosenbush

Daniel Rosenbush is a singer-songwriter and story-teller through song hailing from the north lands of Minnesota. His folk-rock, melody driven, story songs will keep you tapping your feet and humming along all afternoon. Dan has a great voice and sound, and is a great addition to the Bandstand. He plays rock, pop and rock. I listened to him on Spotify and got hooked. Check him out on Facebook and listen to him on Bandcamp.

Aaron Maisler

Aaron Maisler takes a highly independent approach to his music. Best described as an indie pop musician, he uses his knowledge of guitars and musical devices to create songs that can range from downbeat and bluesy to upbeat with a synthy edge. Aaron's music flows from his experiences in life as he traveled the world, finally settling in Florida, where he became a working musician. He’s traveled the world and now resides in DC. Listen to his music on Bandcamp.

October 25th, Thursday 8-10pm

Emma G

Finding her voice as she rediscovers her American heritage from her home base in Washington DC, New Zealand-born singer/songwriter Emma G is a combination of Adele, Pink, Tracy Chapman and Alanis Morrissette. Her edgy tones and gutsy lyrics hammer home her messages of love, vulnerability, empowerment and strength with a soul-pop/rock sound that is engaging, inspiring and appealing to a hugely diverse audience. Emma’s music is available on iTunesAmazon and Google Music, Spotify and SoundCloud

Hannah Jaye & the Hideaways

Hannah Jaye and the Hideaways is an original folk band based in Washington, DC. The band features Hannah Jaye on lead vocals and guitar, Rebecca Weiss on fiddle, Greg Mulley on upright bass, and Giacomo Fornasini on mandolin, banjo, and harmonica. Their story-driven music combines soulful vocals, meaningful lyrics, and captivating instrumentals. With roots in bluegrass, country, blues, rock, and pop, Hannah Jaye and the Hideaways inspire a variety of audiences to dance and appreciate the little things in life. Since forming 6 months ago, the band has performed over 12 shows at The New Deal Cafe, the Takoma Park Folk Festival, Smith Public Trust, and other venues across the DMV. November 8th, Thursday 8-10pm

The Fuss

The Fuss is a dynamic ska, rocksteady, and early reggae band from Washington, D.C. Their sound pays tribute to the music of 1960’s Jamaica and the British Mod scene, while putting modern slant on these timeless styles. The group is comprised of 3-part female harmonies, a 3-piece horn section, and 4-piece rhythm section. Since the band formed in 2014 and they’ve had the pleasure of sharing the stage with bands such as The Skatalites, The Toasters, The Pietasters, Eastern Standard Time, The Interrupters, Save Ferris, Steady 45’s, and many more. Find out more on their website.

Tommi

Tommi is a local recording artist of Sierra Leonean descent. Tommi has performed around the DMV at venues like Wolf Trap and The Kennedy Center, in addition to performing all over DC and NY. She was recently featured on Fox TV's "Beyond The Lens," and a video of her singing a Gladys Knight classic "Neither One of Us" in Chinatown has reached over 1,300,000 views on Facebook. Make sure you wish her a happy birthday at the show as she releases her first single "Kryptonite" on all digital platforms on Saturday during the Palooza! Learn more about Tommi on her website.

November 29th, Thursday 8-10pm

7th Street Rockers

A two-man band comprised of Eric Emmanuel Smith on vocals and David Grinspoon on guitar, their band name gives them strong local preference! (The fact that David is a published astrobiologist certainly makes this geek happy, too!) This is their first show with the new band name, so come support a local band! Check out a track on Soundcloud: "Jolene."

The Treads

The Treads are a DC-based band that plays alt-country, bluegrass, roots rock, Southern Gothic and Americana - mostly originals, but some covers, too. They bring together a diverse musical heritage, from the Mississippi Delta to the Virginia Piedmont, from Florida swamps to the Allegheny hills. Learn more on their website.
