The Georgia Avenue Family Support Collaborative (GAFSC), a 23-year-old Petworth community-based organization, is conducting a Community Needs Assessment Survey (CNA) in its homebase of Ward 4! All residents are invited to participate to help GAFSC understand the needs of those who live in Ward 4.

GAFSC is part of a citywide network of family support organizations commonly known as The Collaboratives.  Since its inception, GAFSC, located at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Allison Street NW, has supported low- to moderate-income residents.

CEO, Karen Feinstein, the founding Executive Director of the organization, said, “I remember when we crafted our vision, ‘To support children, youth and families to become healthy, empowered and connected in a multi-cultural community.’  We wanted to give voice to the diversity that was blossoming in the community and make it our own vision for the future.”

Today, GAFSC’s multicultural team of 42 staff represents the racial/ethnic diversity and speaks the languages— English, Spanish and Amharic — of the Ward 4 community.

The CNA Survey is essential given the unprecedented economic and socio-cultural impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.  We seek the community’s input on the services and programs and the role that GAFSC can best fulfill in this changing environment.

You can get more information about the survey through the GAFSC website.
