Pepco "Capital Grid" meeting in Takoma to discuss electrical infrastructure enhancements
/Pepco has rescheduled its Open House to update the community about their proposed infrastructure initiative called the Capital Grid project for Thursday, April 26th at 8:30pm. The public meeting will be held in Takoma at the LaSalle-Backus Education Campus, 501 Riggs Road NE. RSVP info is below.
According to Pepco, the Capital Grid project is a "forward-looking plan that will strengthen the resiliency of the electric system by upgrading three existing Pepco substations, building a new substation, and installing a 10-mile underground transmission cable." These improvements are intended to make the electric system in the Capital area less vulnerable to strong storms and other expected events.
If you're interested in learning about the Capital Grid project and what to expect during implementation and construction, you're invited to attend this public Open House meeting. It will include specific information on the Capital Grid project, such as the planned installation of a new transmission cable taking place in Ward 4 and upgrades to the Takoma Substation (the Takoma to Sligo Underground Construction project is not related to the Capital Grid project).
The meeting is Thursday, April 26th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the LaSalle-Backus Education Campus, 501 Riggs Road NE
To attend, send an email RSVP to Pepco, and visit their Capital Grid website for more information.
This meeting was originally scheduled for March, but was canceled due to weather concerns.
