Shooting at Georgia & Quincy on Friday night with one victim (updated)
/Updated 5/30/2020 with information about the victim.
We are averaging one shooting every four days now.
Add one more shooting to the numbers as there was a shooting at Georgia Avenue and Quincy Street NW around 9:30pm. This was the same location as the scene of a shooting on Monday, May 25th.
According to MPD, a car driving north on Georgia was struck by a stray bullet from this exchange of gunfire, shattering the windshield of the car. The driver was struck in the face either by a bullet or by glass debris, and was able to drive the car to the corner of 8th and Taylor Streets NW where bystanders reportedly called 911 on her behalf. Reports on scene said she was conscious.
As of Saturday, MPD reported that the woman went into surgery to remove a foreign object from near her eye.

Witness reports: “Woman in car was shot through windscreen in face (by crossfire?) & drove around the corner to that park to call for help (my friend called 911 for them). Miraculously conscious. She witnessed multiple shooters” pic.twitter.com/HlTYkxqlJT
MPD reported on Twitter being on the lookout for two suspects. (Since description details were thin, we’ve removed them.)
MPD had closed off Georgia Avenue between New Hampshire intersection and Quincy Street NW.
(Side note: I usually start publishing on Twitter when these kinds of incidents happen, so follow Petworth News there if you want to keep up with the craziness as it happens.)
So @EleanorNorton just followed me and I’m pretty sure it’s not because I’m witty, it’s because people keep getting shot. Once every 4 days there’s been gun violence.
