Monday night shooting at Sherman Circle leaves one injured, no one talking
/A number of residents reported hearing gunshots just after midnight on Monday late night / Tuesday.
MPD responded to calls for sounds of gunshots at 12:15am and found one person with a gunshot wound to the leg at Sherman Circle, near 8th and Crittenden Street. According to MPD, 6 people were involved in an altercation in the Circle (two groups of 3 people), leaving one adult male shot with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect and the 2 other individuals are still at large. The other group is not cooperating.
Sherman Circle is federal property managed by the National Park Service, and is under the jurisdiction of the US Park Police. USPP will handle any investigation going forward. Generally, historically, this means the community will not hear any other updates.

On May 19, 2020, at approximately 12:15 am, Fourth District Units and United States Park Police Units, responded to Sherman Circle for a sound of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they located 1 adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was conscious and breathing, and was transported to an area hospital. The incident is currently under investigation by the United States Park Police.
