The Saturday after Thanksgiving is known as “small business Saturday,” and is an opportunity for residents to shop at their local retail businesses. (Hey, Obama came to Upshur Street Books in 2015 for small biz Saturday!)

This year I think we’re good if the current president stays put on his golf course, but YOU can head out and shop along Upshur Street and the Kennedy Street corridor. Here’s deets:

Support Upshur Street businesses this Small Business Saturday! Annie's Ace Hardware, Willow, Lulabelle's Sweet Shop, Upshur Street Books, and Fia's Fabulous Finds are coming together on Small Business Saturday to bring you in-store deals and the chance to win one of five baskets with prizes from each shop! Be sure to pick up a “Petworth Business Passport” at any participating business, get a stamp at every location, and be entered to win the gift basket raffle! Happening along Upshur Street NW 10am-7pm.

How this works:

Stop by one of their participating businesses and make a purchase
Receive a special raffle ticket with the bill or receipt
Head on over to the check-in stations (located at ANXO Cidery & Tasting Room & Red Derby) to pick up your shop-small bag and swag
Enter the raffle to win a very special Cherry Blossom Creative print of Petworth or 16th Street Heights
Enjoy complimentary hot drinks, pick up a map of our corridor, and indulge in fun activities like our Polaroid photo-booth

Check out the line up of discounts, fun and special activities happening on the Main Street from 11am-3pm. Remember that if you patronize a small business, you'll receive a raffle ticket! Bring that raffle ticket to one of our check in stations and you could win a neighborhood print!

Red Derby will be hosting a check-in station, a Polaroid photo booth and a live art demo from Eddie Harris Artwork in addition to offering free donuts from What's a Bagel (11am-5pm); $1 off cans of locally made drinks; $1 off Green Hat G&T's, Rose Coupe cocktails & Lite My Fire beer/shot combos
ANXO Cidery & Tasting Room will be hosting a UMS check in station, a photo booth & free bulbs from City Blossoms to plant along #KennedyStreetNW. They're also offering 10% all to-go cider! Pick up a pack (or a case) for the holidays!
Taqueria Distrito Federal will be giving customers 10% off all day! Under new management, this taqueria offers tasty classics and innovative combos. Stop by on the 24th!
Downtown Liquors will be giving customers 10% on all wines! Stock up for the holidays!
