Dine out for charity with Petworth restaurants

Fourteen local restaurants are coming together on Tuesday, January 10th from 5-10pm to give back to the community and donate money to two good organizations. The restaurants will give 10% of their proceeds for the evening to Powell Elementary School and Celebrate Petworth. It's a great opportunity to try a new local restaurant or visit a favorite.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and many senior citizens don’t have the necessary resources to enjoy food on the holiday. Unfortunately, this is the outcome for many senior citizens who do not have the proper support system, such as family commitment. That's where Meals on Wheels in Takoma Park continues to be a reliable source for the elderly.

I moved to Petworth in 2007, long before there was a Yes! Organic Market in the neighborhood and all the restaurants and stores along Upshur Street. It has been great to see the neighborhood evolve over time and connect with neighbors who are working on inspiring initiatives locally and globally.

Petworth restaurants team up to give back to the Capital Area Food Bank

There's a pretty cool charity event taking place in Petworth and Columbia Heights tomorrow and Thursday. Spotluck, a restaurant-discovery mobile app created by a Bethesda company, is teaming up Petworth and Columbia Heights restaurants to make a collective donation to the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) as a thank you for all of their hard work, and to recognize that they have spent their holiday season away from family and friends in order to help others.
