I asked readers to send in some thoughts on what they’re grateful for this Thanksgiving season. Here are some of the comments… the last one is mine.

I have adopted the practice of being in a daily state of gratitude and thanksgiving, but during this season the lens is magnified. When we gather with family and friends to kick off the holiday season on Thanksgiving, it's a beautiful time of fellowship. It's a time to slow down and appreciate the people and the small things that make you smile and bring you comfort. It can be a hard life, and seeing people on the streets on holidays seems more painful than other days, since holidays are supposed to be with family and are supposed to be safe. Take everyone around you and wrap your arms around them so tight, they’re what you should be thankful for. Mary, Kennedy Street
