Introduction
Hi! My name is Carson C. Lucarelli and I'm a professionally trained urban planner that has worked at the local government level in development review since 2015. Since 2018 I have worked at City Hall in Alexandria, Va. and I own a condominium with my partner and two tuxedo cats (Diego y Frida) on Kennedy Street NW.

What's a hobby or something fun that you are interested in?
In terms of hobbies, I enjoy riding my bicycle, American-traditional tattoos, all things related to the Spanish-speaking world, traveling, going to the library, and cooking.

What are your qualifications?
As a professional trained urban planner who has worked at the local government level for the last 8 years, I feel compelled to run for my SMD because I know I have the compassion and dedication necessary to help make Brightwood Park a better place for people. Being proficient in both English and Spanish, and having reported to boards and commissions in my professional line of work for close to a decade, I know to how interact with elected and appointed officials on behalf of constituents to achieve the best outcomes for all parties involved.

I am eager to get on board as ANC Commissioner and chiefly, to spend more time listening to others who live in Brightwood Park. By working together, I believe we can capitalize on the moment that's occurring along Kennedy Street and the greater SMD to bring the greatest good to the greatest number.

What are the ANC meetings?
My ANC currently holds open public meetings once a month virtually. The ANC also holds a similar, internal meeting on a monthly basis; which also occurs on Wednesdays.

Are you going to hold SMD meetings?
My ANC meets twice a month - once internally as a Commission and once open to the public, generally on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Do you attend other meetings?

Carson’s Priorities
My neighborhood is incredibly entrepreneurial and I will work to continue supporting all of our local businesses, many of whom are immigrant owned. Right now in the District, it is against the law to building apartment buildings in most of the City, so I will also support "legalizing" more housing typologies (e.g., 2, 3, 4-plex, Apt. buildings aka missing middle housing) throughout the SMD and pushing for more dedicated on-site affordable and workforce units with all new apartment construction.

We can also make our streets safer from gun and vehicular violence through best practices such as CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) and traffic calming. As a public transit user, I want to see the 70 and 79 routes along Georgia become more useful with dedicated lanes, signal priority and better headway management.

I look forward to hearing from you on how we can make our neighborhood a better place for people!
