Introduction
By day I'm a lawyer at a progressive litigation nonprofit called Democracy Forward. I am also joining the Mayor's Advisory Committee on Recreational Trails. I live on Sherman Circle with my wife and my two year old son.
What's a hobby or something fun that you are interested in?
My wife and I (and our son) have become avid ebikers during the pandemic and love taking rides to breweries, bars, and restaurants along the MBT and riding up to the Rock Creek Park Nature Center (one of our son's favorite places). On top of that, we cook a lot, we're very social, and I volunteer helping to run a progressive election canvassing organization that knocks thousands of doors every year.
What are your qualifications?
Public policy is a long-standing passion of mine and is core to my professional career, and I'm thrilled for the opportunity to use those skills to serve my neighbors. On a personal level, we are deeply grateful to have joined such a lovely, vibrant, and welcoming community here in Petworth, as well as to have discovered how life-changing it can be to start exploring this city on two wheels instead of four, and I'm fully invested in continuing to make this a warm, lovely, safe place to live and raise a family.
What are the ANC meetings?
We meet the third Wednesday of every month at 6:30. The meetings are currently virtual.
Are you going to hold SMD meetings?
I have not yet made any plans for holding SMD meetings, but it's a good idea!
Do you attend other meetings?
I have not made any plans to attend other meetings in my capacity as Commissioner, but as I mentioned above I will be a member of the Mayor's Advisory Committee on Recreational Trials beginning this fall, which helps advise the Mayor's office on priorities for DC's trail system.
Aman’s Priorities
I am committed to doing everything I can to help advocate for a safer neighborhood in every sense, including finding ways to be helpful in improving public safety as well as advocating for safer streets and traffic patterns. I hope to advocate for living and working in our community to be even more accessible, with more housing where it's appropriate and improved access to transit.
I can't wait to meet my fellow Commissioners, more of my constituents, and get started serving this community next year! Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with questions, concerns, or feedback. And feel free to come over and say hi if you ever see me in Sherman Circle playing with my son!
