Wait, is there even going to be Trick-or-Treating this year? What are you doing for Halloween? (survey!)
/by Cesse Ip
Somehow, I think I missed summer… I don’t know how, but it’s already mid-September and our first pandemic-era Halloween is just a few weeks away. How fast time flies in quarantine!
I saw a silly meme on Facebook and was immediately sad that my children’s Halloween will not be the same this year. I have given zero thought to how we can still partake in the traditional Halloween events, but luckily my kids are young enough that we might be able to skip it and they won’t even notice. But I’ll know.
Typically, our neighbors on Sherman Circle set up a skeleton pirate ship in their front yard, which serves as a popular trick or treat house. Petworth usually has a full schedule of Halloween festivities: different blocks throw parties, there’s multiple costume parades, and many fall festivals. Not this year.
So how are you celebrating Halloween this year?
Are you going to take your kids trick or treating door to door in the neighborhood?
Will you be putting out candy for kids who are going door to door? If so… how? Bowls of candy, small, individual, sanitized bags? Are parents going to be OK with their kids picking up candy during Covid? Answering the door during Covid?
Take a Survey on Trick or Treating / Costume Contest
Take a minute to fill out the survey below so we can get a sense of how neighbors will be celebrating this year. Plus, Petworth News is considering sponsoring a Costume Contest (virtual, of course)! If interest in high enough, we’ll publish another article about the contest and possible prizes.
Take the survey and let us know what you’re doing for Halloween, and if you want to do a photo contest!
