Learn to garden this summer with DPR. Grow huge plants. Tremendous.

The  Urban Garden Division of DC’s Department of Parks and Recreation is offering over fifty free garden workshops through September 30th, and they want you to join them. Their "Summer Garden Series"  has over 50 gardening classes, composting workshops and interactive events going on over the summer and into the fall.) With events happening around the city, many are happening nearby at Raymond Rec Center.

Classes focus on practical urban gardening and are taught by the leaders of DC’s urban gardening movement.  All events are free and open to the public.  Occasional workshops are age 18+.  For details and to register for classes, check out DPR’s 2016 schedule (pdf) and Like their Facebook page to keep up with their different events.

DPR Urban Garden Division works with communities across the District to establish urban agriculture projects and urban garden classes, programs and support systems.  In addition to their weekly classes, DPR sponsors a compost cooperative with over thirty critter-proof bins throughout DC.  To find out how to join your local cooperative, shoot an email to Jon Wirth at DPR.
