/It’s that spooky time of year again, when all the little ghouls and goblins, Black Panthers and Wonder Women go around the neighborhood extorting candy from helpless neighbors. Love it.

Events are taking place at DPR parks from the 27th to the 30th, from Upshur to Hamilton, Lamond to Takoma.

October 30th, 9am-1pm: Petworth Farmers Market (9th & Upshur St NW)
The 4th Annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration in Petworth is right around the corner! Join us in community for a spectacular day of Altar Making Workshops, Calavera face painting, live performances and more. We gather to remember lives lost, to celebrate life lived and honor our loved ones while in community!
First Annual sPETacular Halloween Parade/Costume Contest
The Parks at Walter Reed (Cameron Drive NW)
Thanks to the Parks at Walter Reed for proving that Halloween is for furbabies too! Prizes that have been generously donated by One Leg Up Pets, Big Bad Woof Pet Store, and other vendors will be awarded by celebrity judges Carin Ruff of Dog-Friendly Shepherd Park, Vickie Davis of Hines Urban Atlantic, and Ward 4 Councilmember Janeese Lewis-George. Register your dog for FREE or come to cheer on your favorites. The event opens at Noon on 10/30/21 at the Parks at Walter Reed Dog Park. Please wear a mask and come ready to HAVE FUN!
Sherman Circle Halloween Spooktacular (10/31, 4-6pm)
ANC 4D and Petworth Peanuts are sponsoring this fun event on October 31st at Sherman Circle.
“Stop by the circle between 4 and 6pm for lots of spooky fun, including FREE treat bags/giveaways, a kids' activity hosted by DC Kids Makerspace, and a costume contest with awesome prizes, including GIFTCARDS from Little Coco's, Timber Pizza, Tabla, and Ace Hardware! And, don't miss the Engine Co. 24 fire truck (barring any emergency calls!) or the awesome Thriller dance lessons from instructor Melissa Hough (sessions held at 4:30 and 5:30)!”
