Some Halloween events coming up!

Halloween decorations at 1 Sherman Circle NW will be on display for the Halloween parade.

Halloween in Petworth is usually pretty quiet — except for all the local parades and block parties!

Community Parties

Spooktacular - October 25th, 6-8pm
At St. Paul's Community Center (201 Allison St NW). Enjoy a DJ, pizza, games treats, hayride through the cemetery and more! Wear your costume!

“Larry’s Park” Fall Festival - October 26th, 2-5pm
ANC 4D is holding a Fall Harvest Festival on October 26th from 2-5pm at Larry’s Park at 9th & Gallatin Sts NW. They’ll have food, a moon bounce, face painting and more.

14th and Shepherd Halloween Block Party- November 1st, 6-9:30pm

Date change

The very popular 14th and Shepherd Halloween block party is definitely happening on Halloween night, and is always a great time as neighbors go overboard with decoration, kids activities, bouncy houses, candy apples, s'mores and a spooky movie on a giant screen. Swing by for cupcakes and cookies, games and more!

The 5th and Taylor Halloween block party is not happening, but should return next year according to organizers.

Having a block party? Let me know…

Parades!

Sherman Circle - October 27th, 4pm
Join Councilmember Brandon Todd along with ANC 4D and 4C for the annual Sherman Circle Halloween Parade. The parade kicks off at 4pm on Sunday, October 27th. There will be costumes, food, drinks and games. Don’t forget the awesome house at 1 Sherman Circle!

Petworth Playground - October 31st, 4:30pm
DPR is holding a parade at the Petworth Recreation Center (801 Taylor Street NW) at 4:30pm on Thursday, October 31st. ** (DPR is asking for candy donations — you can drop them off at the Rec Center during the day up until the 29th.)

Other fun stuff…

Lucy’s, the second level of Little Coco’s (3907 14th Street NW), is celebrating the more ghoulish side of life – and what comes next. From Wednesday, October 16th until Sunday, November 3rd, Lucy's will transform into “Spooky Lucy's”... decked out in scary decor, screening Halloween-themed movies, shaking up devilish cocktails, popping out jello shots, and continuing to serve those great little burgers they’ve become known for.

Homestead (3911 Georgia Ave NW) will have a DJ and a cocktail special for anyone in a costume from 8-11pm on Halloween night.

Hook Hall (3400 Georgia Ave NW) is offering free warm mulled cider for kids (with parents being offered hot mulled cider or hot mulled wine for $5). They’ll also have candy and snacks, giveaways for costumes (best kid, adult and dog), a caricature artist, face painting, kid-friendly movies, games and BBQ Bus. Note that they post pictures they take on Facebook.

Having a Halloween event? Let me know… we’ll update as we get more info.
