Petworth Jazz Project jumps into its new season on May 26th
/Saturday, May 26th is a very fine day, both for a birthday and an awesome Petworth Jazz Project show -- the first of the new 2018 season and the 8th year of this most amazing free show!
The season opener of the Petworth Jazz Project kicks off at 6pm with the always popular kids' performer Baba Ras D and face-painting, compliments of sponsor Ryan DaSilva.
After that, it's local jazz pianist Federico Gonzalez Peña playing for you at 6:45pm! Originally from Uruguay, Peña moved to the US in 1984 to attend the Berklee College of Music before coming to DC. He’s played with go-go bands and a slew of famous artists in the years since. It's going to be an amazing show.
Wanna plan dinner? There will be a food truck for your dining pleasure, The Tender Rib BBQ, which has been a fan favorite in the past.
This show is sponsored by Ryan DaSilva, realtor, and in part by a grant from the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities, which is supported by the National Endowment For The Arts.
All shows free and on the lawn at the Petworth Recreation Center, 801 Taylor Street NW. Bring a blanket, a neighbor and tell a friend!
