Well-Paid Maids offers home cleaning services with living wages
/"A cleaning service that matches your values."
Well-Paid Maids is the brainchild of Aaron Seyedian, who wanted to start a business that provided a real living wage and benefits to employees. How he ended up owning his own cleaning service says a lot about him and his new company.
Aaron moved to the DC area because he wanted a career that would allow him to express his values. Prior to starting Well-Paid Maids, he worked in international development and public sector management consulting. Like many people in our region, the pursuit of his career left him with little free time and a messy home. He needed to find a cleaning service.
A few years ago, he used a popular cleaning service for his apartment. They did a great job, but as he read more about the cleaning industry he became concerned that the hard-working people cleaning his home weren’t being treated fairly. When he reached out to the company to ask about their wages, they refused to give him an answer. That didn't sit well with him, so he stopped using the service. In August, he started Well-Paid Maids, the DC area’s first and only living-wage home cleaning service, to provide an ethical alternative in the home cleaning industry.
Well-Paid Maids delivers high-quality service at affordable rates, and employees are paid a starting wage of $16/hour plus full benefits. This new approach was recently covered by the Washington Post, which takes a deeper dive into Aaron's background and the prevailing practices of the cleaning industry.
If you're looking for a home-cleaning company that respects its employees and delivers great results for customers, book a cleaning today, and help prove that a living-wage business can succeed in one of the country’s lowest-paying industries. Not surprisingly, Petworth residents are already some of Well-Paid Maids’ best customers.
