Petworth Porchfest is coming: Got a band, a porch or want to volunteer? Sign up!
/by Cesse Ip
Last spring the streets came alive all over our neighborhood for the inaugural Petworth Porchfest. Organizers weren’t sure how many would come out to enjoy the live music at almost 100 homes across Petworth. Thousands of people came out, filled sidewalks, streets and front yards to come together as a community and celebrate music!
This year the music is coming back, and the organizers are looking for bands to perform, porches to host, and volunteers and sponsors to help the event run smoothly.
The event will be from 2-6pm on Saturday, April 30th.
Here’s how to participate (band, porch or volunteer):
Bands:
All genres and sizes of bands are welcome. While Petworth Porchfest will not be a paid gig, bands are allowed to collect tips in any way they wish (from a collection jar to e-payments). Bands should plan for a 30-45 minute set, and they are expected to bring all the equipment they need including PA gear. Electricity will be available, and once matches are made between bands and porches, you can work out sharing agreements with your porch host.

Porch Host:
If you can host a band on your porch, be prepared to host up to 4 bands, each playing a 45-minute set from 2 to 6pm. You will need to provide the bands with electricity, and if there is no outlet on your porch, please provide an extension cord and a plug strip. Once the matches between porches and bands are made, you will receive a group email that includes all the bands assigned to your porch. Also keep in mind that there is no compensation for hosting.

Volunteer to Help Make It Happen:
If you lack a porch and musical talent but still would like to help out, please consider volunteering! Petworth Porchfest is looking for help with social media support, day of logistics and event outreach.

Sponsor!
Petworth Porchfest is seeking sponsors to help fund the necessary permits and miscellaneous expenses to throw this awesome community event. If you’re able to assist, please email petworthporchfest@gmail.com.
