Powell Spring Carnival is May 14 -- everyone is invited!
/The Parents group at Powell Elementary, "Parents Organized for the Power of Powell" (or POPPS for short) is having it's 2nd Annual Spring Carnival, and they're inviting the entire community to come out and have fun on Saturday, May 14th from 10am - 3pm at the football field at Roosevelt High School.
Besides a lot of good food, the Festival offers a day full of great activities for the whole family, including a moon bounce, snow cones, popcorn, a raffle and carnival games. Powell principal O'Kiyyah Lyons-Lucas and several of Powell's faculty and staff are supporting the event by offering themselves up as sacrifices for the dunk tank! There will also be live performances from Powell students and Petworth community groups, and a parents vs. teachers soccer game at 10:30am.
"We are trying to raise funds for field trips for our Powell Elementary students," said Ellyon Bell, one of the Festival's organizers and president of POPPS. "We also wanted to provide a fun event for Powell students as well as a venue for the Petworth community to come together and have fun!"
You can enter a raffle to win a Disney World Vacation package, an Apple iPad or a $100 shopping spree from Willow, free classes at Lighthouse Yoga, dance classes at Dance Loft on 14th, a gift card to The Coupe, a wine education class from Total Wine & More, a gift card from Fia's Fabulous Finds, Qualia Coffee Beans, and more prizes.
All proceeds from the Carnival go to funding field trips for Powell students.
