Sherman Circle Social draws large crowd

Tonight was the first Sherman Circle Social, a gathering of neighbors who live near and around Sherman Circle. What first started out as really nice weather suddenly became a huge downpour or rain right at 5:30 -- right when the Social was supposed to start. I arrived a few minutes early and huddled in my car watching the drenched people on bicycles yell at drivers as they all tried to share the road. And then, just as suddenly, the rain stopped, the sun came out and the Social was on.

A really nice group of people came out from all around the Circle (Illinois, Decatur, Buchanan, Allison, 5th, 8th, etc.). There were a lot of kids -- lots and lots. Whoever opens a kids' clothing or toy store in Petworth is going to make fistfuls of money.

Congrats to Pam Brown for organizing the Social. It joins the Grant Circle Social and the Southwest Petworth Lemonade Social -- all great ways for neighbors to meet. I'm such a huge fan. If you attended, please make sure you tell your neighbors who may not know about the events.

It was great to meet everyone! Sherman Circle Social will be the first Wednesday of the month, so the next is August 5th.

Feel free to tag yourself in the photos on Facebook!
