Get some great flavor while you're stuck at home (spices, teas and more)
/Since everyone who can and should be staying home is home (right?), here’s a suggestion on how to spice up your necessary “work-edu-stay-cation” with a little flavor, mailed to your home.
The Spice & Tea Exchange is an awesome little shop that I found in Georgetown a decade ago. The walls are covered in shelves holding jar after jar of spices, spice blends, loose leaf teas, and infused sugars and salts.
The store moved to Frederick last year, so while I don’t have the opportunity to swing by as often, they do offer online ordering. I figured I’d share the goodness of the store with you — and with his store being closed, get him a little support as well.
“We feature over 60 spice blends, made in-store, to create new dishes for steak, fish, pasta, curries…you name it!” said owner Keith Campbell-Rosen.
Keith recommends sprinkling their “Tuscany spice blend” into olive oil to recreate a restaurant-style bread dip, and turn your “Chicken a la Last Week” into this week’s bold new flavor with their Jamaican Jerk, Tandoori, Backwoods Hickory, or one of their other 60 unique spice blends.
“Try using our Black Truffle Salt to transform your popcorn, french fries, scrambled eggs, steak, vegetables, or even potatoes into something amazing,” he said. “For desert, you’ll find our scrumptious Salted Caramel, Red Raspberry, Peppermint Patty, or one of our other mouth-watering sugar flavors to be the perfect topping for your ice cream or homemade brownies.”
In addition, our wide range of exotic and standard teas will warm you up with healthy, tasty, goodness. Whether you prefer black, green, herbal or red teas, we have just the right flavor to suit you.”
