Join the Celebrate Petworth Festival steering committee next week
/
The Celebrate Petworth festival is becoming one of the biggest events in Petworth. Now going into its third year, they're looking to volunteers to join the steering committee and help shape this summer's next festival. (See a photo gallery from last summer's festival.)
Here's their call for volunteers for a meeting next week:
Interested in being a part of the summer's best neighborhood block party, in the best neighborhood in DC? The third annual Celebrate Petworth festival is coming up this year in early June and planning is just beginning.
Please join us on Tuesday, February 2nd, from 7:00-8:30pm, upstairs at Chez Billy (3815 Georgia Avenue NW), for our steering committee kickoff meeting. We would love to see you and hear from you and hopefully have you join our intrepid band of celebrators!
Last year's event took place on the 800 block of Upshur Street and featured a music stage, kids stage, 50 vendors, a history tent, a live mural by Aniekan Udofia, karate demos, the first ever Lincoln Fun Run, food trucks, three on three basketball tournament, a fitness zone, and most importantly, you!
This year we are excited to feature your creative ideas as well as the many exciting new business arrivals on Upshur and Georgia Avenue. We are looking for specific roles including:
- vendor recruitment
- kids stage programming
- main stage programming
- history tent programming
- fitness zone programming
- marketing/social media
- fundraising
- project management
- event management and logistics
- and the ever popular: permitting!
If you can't make it to the kickoff meeting but know you want to contribute, email us and let us know what role you are interested in. We look forward to your help in making this year's celebration the best one yet!
Cheers,
Tom Pipkin, Lucan Pipkin and Rob Mandle
