Petworth Rec Center sits between Taylor and 8th Streets NW

ANC 4C Commissioner Kim Varzi sent an email about an upcoming meeting to discuss safety concerns at the Petworth Playground. The meeting is on Tuesday, February 11th at the Petworth Recreation Center (801 Taylor Street NW). This is precipitated by the recent shooting on Monday, February 3rd at the park.

There will be a meeting Tuesday February 11th at 6 PM at the Petworth Rec center. While I recognize the timing isn't perfect, we wanted to be sure to address community concerns sooner than later.

Councilmember Todd, DPR, MPD and possibly DGS will be there to update the community and hear concerns regarding Petworth Rec center. If you have any comments or questions or issues you want addressed, please email them to me so I can forward them prior to the meeting.

Shooting at Petworth playground leaves one man injured, parents and kids hiding

Multiple gunshots were fired in the early afternoon of Saturday, February 1st in front of the Petworth Playground at the Petworth Recreation Center. The gunfire left one man in the hospital, and multiple parents and children hiding under the playground equipment.
