The Petworth Playground at 8th and Taylor Streets is up for renovations this year, with $2 million set aside for the work. The Department of Parks and Recreation and Department of Government Services held a meeting on December 7th to review the plans and prepare a survey (which appears to have been well-received, if just the click-throughs from Petworth News are any indication).

DPR and DGS are holding another meeting on Monday, May 7th from 6:30-8pm at the Petworth Library (basement community room).

DPR will present the survey results and the recommendations they have from results. According to Peter Nohrden, the DPR project manager, after the meeting, DPR will be finalizing the Scope of Work (SOW) that will be included in the Request For Proposals (RFP) for a design/build firm to begin working on concepts.

"Once we have these concepts drawings prepared, we will then hold another community meeting to review them and gather further feedback from the community," Peter said. "We will share an updated timeline at the community meeting."

Monday, May 7th, 6:30pm - 8pm at the Petworth Library (4200 Kansas Ave NW).
