Holiday lights bingo contest, vote for best decorations and more

It may be cold but Georgia Ave businesses are keeping it cozy and bright with the Lower Georgia Ave Main Street HOLIDAY LIGHTS! Here's how to join the fun:

1. CHECK OUT THE LIGHTS: Walk along Georgia Ave and the 800 block of Upshur to find 60 businesses lit up for your viewing pleasure. Check the Holiday Lights listing and map to find out where.

2. VOTE: Cast your vote online for your favorite display. Winner's receive the coveted People's Choice Award at the December Holiday Lights Extravaganza award ceremony.

3. PLAY BINGO: Download your Blackout BINGO card or pick one up at any of the 43 participating businesses. Winners receive gift certificates from local businesses. By the end of December, visit 37 neighborhood stores and restaurants to get your card stamped (no purchase necessary) or all 43 to double your chances to win! (See online for the list of prizes).

4. HOLIDAY LIGHTS EXTRAVAGANZA: Join your neighbors at Walls of Books (3325 GA Ave NW) in Park View on Saturday, Dec 14, 5pm at the Extravaganza for the Award Announcements of winning business displays. Meet the creator of E.L. Haynes student video, learn about NeighborUp StoryBoards, and decorate cookies with icing donated by EatsPlace! Then head out to enjoy all the other specials at local businesses.
