Remember the meaning of Memorial Day as we all spend it at home

Memorial Day is Monday, May 25th. Usually spent grilling or enjoying a longer extended weekend, we’re all mostly on longer extended weekends now.

Yet it’s important to remember that Memorial Day isn’t about grilling, and it’s not about thanking veterans for serving in the military. It’s about remembering the more than 645,000 military service members who have given their lives in military conflict in service to our country since WWI.

USAA is leading an effort this Memorial Day asking all Americans to offer a digital tribute to our fallen military heroes by visiting PoppyInMemory.com. There you can find information about the holiday, activities to do with your family, learn how to dedicate a virtual poppy to a hero that gave his or her life in battle, learn about each military conflict and the losses suffered, and more.

The video below from USAA is really touching, and worth your five minutes. Then check out PoppyInMemory.
