The Petworth Arts Collaborative is gearing up for the 2019 season of Arts and Community and we are excited to share the line-up! This year First Fridays are seasonal (May through October) and have curated an exhilarating program for all to enjoy. Plus, the Dia de los Muertos celebration will return for it’s 3rd year in Petworth.

Petworth Arts has collaborated with additional organizations, neighbors and fellow artists to present and produce First Fridays in Petworth.

To kick things off, in May, is Petworth resident Kirth Bobb and The Community Collective curating a community photo project, ”What Community Means to You.” Join us as we transform Petworth Fitness into an art gallery featuring photos submitted by novice to professional photographers capturing their take on community.

In June, we have Opera in the Park at Lincoln’s Cottage with The In Series: Opera and More!, bring your picnic, family and friends to enjoy opera under the DC sky.

July presents a powerful program from DC born and raised resident Jason Biehl and artist Maps Glover exploring the concept of Freedom and America.

In August, Stop Motion DC dresses up the neighborhood with a wheat pasting workshop, live projections and more. Followed by an impactful collaboration with The Prison Arts Coalition, Voices Unbarred and Go Artivate showcasing work, performance and visual art, by incarcerated individuals, returned citizens and at risk youth, not to be missed!

Finally our First Friday season closes with a Recycled Art Exhibit showcasing installations made from recycled materials and created by YOU! Join us throughout the summer, specific dates coming soon, at the Petworth Farmers Market for workshops on how to create your art and re-envision what we can do with these materials. AND don’t forget about the celebration of memories and families for the third annual Dia de los Muertos festivities.

This year also brings great cheers as Petworth Arts Collaborative has a fiscal sponsor! Thank you to District Bridges for supporting the vision of presenting arts and community.

Want to get involved? We are always looking for additional creative minds and collaborators to join our all volunteer group of neighbors and artists. For more information, send an email to-sara@petworthartsdc.org or fill out the volunteer form.
