On March 18th, Qualia Coffee officially closed its Petworth doors after nearly 14 years at the location.The coffee shop had originally temporarily closed the Georgia Ave business, operating out of the neighboring Commonwealth Cantina as a pop-up. However, the company announced that it would not be following through with the previously scheduled maintenance, instead electing to shut down the location.

After its inaugural success in 2019, Open Streets returns to Georgia Avenue on Saturday, October 2nd from 10am to 3pm. Three miles of Georgia Avenue — between Barry Place NW and Missouri Avenue — will be closed to cars. Instead, residents can walk, bike, run and scooter in the street. On Monday, July 12th, ANC 4C voted to remove Commissioner Paul Johnson as chairperson on a vote of 8-2 in favor. Commissioner Johnson and Commissioner Yvette Marbury-Long voted against the motion. While Johnson will no longer be serving as chairperson of ANC 4C, he will still serve as a commissioner representing the 4C07 Single Member District.
