Meeting about updates to the Petworth Recreation Center set for early August
/ DrewTwo years ago the DC city budget had money set aside for renovations to the Petworth Recreation Center. The DC Department of Parks and Recreation held a series of meetings with the community to discuss what those changes could look like, and sent out surveys in English, Spanish and Amharic. Since last year, not much has been happening and people have been wondering what’s next for the park (mini-soccer pitch was quickly and quietly built at the park last July with little community input, much to the delight of futsal enthusiasts.)
According to DPR, the next steps in the park renovation process are ready to be taken.
“The design/build team has finally been chosen for the renovation project, and a Scope of Work and community survey results shared to give the architects direction to begin concept drawings,” said Peter Nohrden, DPR’s project lead.
DPR is holding a community meeting on Monday, August 5th at 6:30pm at the Petworth Library to review the proposed layout of the new park renovations, including changes to the playground and the splash park.
Come by to learn about the upcoming changes, ask questions of DPR and see the concepts.
